Jonathan J. Makela
Jonathan J. Makela received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (1999) and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2003) from Cornell University. He was a National Research Council Research Associate at the Naval Research Laboratory from 2002 through 2004 before joining the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004 where he is currently a Professor. Concurrently, Jonathan is also a Research Professor at Illinois' Coordinated Science Laboratory. He is the recipient of the Henry G. Booker Fellowship (2008) awarded by the United States National Committee of the International Union of Radio Scientists, the Zeldovich Medal (2008) awarded by the Committee on Space Research and the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Mac Van Valkenburg Early Career Teaching Award (2011) given by the IEEE Education Society.
