The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a Research Engineer (Power) for the Information Trust Institute (www.iti.illinois.edu). The Information Trust Institute (ITI) provides national leadership combining research and education with industrial outreach in trustworthy and secure information systems.

The Research Engineer (Power) will support its activities in the Smart Grid research and development applied to the nation’s critical power transmission and distribution systems ("Smart Grid").

This person will be involved in performing power engineering studies and experiments, setting up and maintaining software and hardware necessary to perform such studies, and facilitating a collaboration between technology creators and technology adopters to test and validate new technologies for use in critical Smart Grid infrastructures at the local, regional, and national levels. ITI at the University of Illinois brings together over 100 faculty members across 28 departments and 11 colleges to conduct multidisciplinary engineering research on trustworthy critical cyber infrastructures for the Smart Grid, transportation, financial markets, defense, homeland security, and water and food security, among other areas.
